Woodhead Publishing becomes first publisher to be accepted by the British Library to supply digital feed for legal deposit
Following the launch of digital legal deposit on 6th April at the British Library and five other copyright libraries, Woodhead Publishing in Cambridge, a leading publisher of books on science and technology, has become the first UK publisher to become an authorised supplier of a digital feed of its new books. As a result the supply of physical copies is no longer required, saving the company thousands of pounds each year.

Woodhead Publishing has been announced as a contender for the Frankfurt Book Fair Academic & Professional Publisher of the Year award at this year’s Independent Publishing Awards.
The judging panel listed Woodhead’s consistently strong sales and incomparable knowledge of the field among its reasons for being shortlisted: ‘Woodhead Publishing achieved record sales in 2012—in this case for the 12th successive year. It followed substantial growth in many key export territories and across Woodhead’s online business. Judges considered it a textbook example of owner-run publishing. “Woodhead has built up an unrivalled knowledge of its niche subjects and customers. It has a very clear vision and strategies and sticks rigorously to them.”
The winner will be announced at a Gala Dinner during the IPG’s Annual Conference on Thursday 7 March 2013 at Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire.

Woodhead Publishing wins The International Achievement Award at the IPG Independent Publishing Awards 2012
At the Independent Publishers Guild (IPG) Independent Publishing Awards on the 8th March, Woodhead Publishing was awarded The 2012 London Book Fair International Achievement Award. The awards were held at a Gala Dinner at Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire as part of the IPG’s 50th Annual Conference.

Woodhead Publishing acquires list of Biohealthcare Publishing
Woodhead Publishing Limited (Cambridge, UK) is pleased to announce the acquisition of the list of published and forthcoming books from Biohealthcare Publishing (Oxford) Limited. Woodhead Publishing announces new US office
Woodhead Publishing Limited is pleased to announce the setting up of a new office in the United States, in Philadelphia, to handle the sales, marketing and distribution of its well known list of books on science and technology.The office will use the services of Caslon Business Development, Inc., which has been based in Philadelphia for seven years. Woodhead has appointed Ingram Publisher Services, an Ingram Content Group company, as distributor.

Woodhead Publishing acquires Horwood Publishing
Woodhead Publishing Limited in Cambridge UK has acquired the list of Horwood Publishing in Chichester. The deal was done just before Christmas, the second year running that Woodhead has completed an acquisition on Christmas Eve. The Horwood list comprises about 90 books in the fields of mathematics, engineering, biochemistry, chemistry and the environment.
